"Cow is the source of progress and prosperity. In many ways it is superior to one’s mother."
Gaushala, a Sanskrit word (“Gau” means cow and “Shala” means a shelter place: Gau + Shala = shelter for cows), means the home for cows, calves and oxen.
The primary objective of the "Gau Seva" campaign is to provide proper nourishment and care for the abandoned cows in India, ensuring their well-being and upholding the country's cultural reverence for these sacred animals. By mobilizing resources, raising awareness, and fostering community participation, the campaign aims to address the pressing issue of neglected cows and promote a compassionate society.
The Homeless Foundation is an effort to care for these innocent and gentle animals that are the victims of current malpractices. It is a purely social initiative for the care and protection of abandoned, sick & non-milking cows. We have 2 Gaushalas - one in Palghar, Maharashtra which is the first Gaushala having 22 cows and 6 calves in a small area. We are planning to build another one to accommodate 101 cows. The second Gaushala is at Prayagraj ( Uttar Pradesh) there are 30 cow’s & 9 Calves.
The Homeless Foundation is currently operational with the help of 7 sevadaars who take care of cows and calves. The workers work as full-time helpers and do feeding, cleaning of the premises and all other work.
Current Fodder Expenses: The cows are fed with high-nutrition fodder. The total current expenses for the fodder are Rs. 90,000 per month.
